The Future of Motorsport Needs All of Us

28 June, 2026

Motorsport has always been built on passion.

Whether it’s the volunteer marshal standing trackside in all weathers, the engineer working late into the night, the parent towing a kart across the country, or the young driver dreaming of their first race win, every part of our sport exists because people are willing to give their time, knowledge and support.

As the industry continues to evolve, one thing has become increasingly clear: the future of motorsport depends on the next generation. Not just the next generation of drivers, but of engineers, mechanics, fabricators, officials, event professionals, media specialists, designers and innovators.

Creating those opportunities is something we all have a responsibility to support.

The good news is that making a difference doesn’t always require a significant investment. Sometimes, the smallest actions can have the biggest impact.

If you run a business, could you offer a work experience placement or apprentice opportunity? If you’re an experienced competitor or engineer, could you spare an hour to mentor someone starting their journey? If you’re part of a race team or championship, could you visit a local school or college and explain what a career in motorsport really looks like?

For many young people, simply meeting someone who works in the industry can be the moment that changes everything.

It’s also important to remember that motorsport is far broader than what we see on television. While Formula 1 often captures the headlines, our industry offers careers across engineering, manufacturing, electronics, logistics, event management, marketing, media, simulation, data analysis, sustainability and countless other disciplines. There truly is a place for everyone with the passion and determination to get involved.

At Motorsport Expo, we’re committed to shining a spotlight on these opportunities. Through our education and careers initiatives, we’ll be bringing together colleges, universities, employers, governing bodies and industry experts to help inspire and guide those considering a future in motorsport.

Our aim is simple: to make the sport more accessible, to showcase the breadth of careers available, and to help build stronger connections between today’s industry and tomorrow’s talent.

But no single event can achieve that on its own.

The strength of motorsport has always come from its community. Teams supporting teams. Businesses helping newcomers. Experienced professionals sharing their knowledge. Volunteers giving their time. Fans becoming competitors. Competitors becoming engineers. Engineers becoming business owners.

Together, we all play a part.

If every organisation, every team and every individual made just one small commitment to support someone starting their motorsport journey, the impact across our industry would be extraordinary.

The future of motorsport doesn’t belong to one championship, one manufacturer or one event.

It belongs to all of us.

And together, we can ensure it continues to thrive for generations to come.
